Lighting is the deliberate use of artificial or natural light to illuminate spaces. Luminous efficacy means how much useable light is emanated from the source. This is measured by lumen per watt. The light the bulb illuminates is determined by wattage of light bulb. If the bulb is opaque, it will emit less light than a transparent bulb.

How dim was the light? How about that love story or happy ending. As a rule, lighting is bright, even brilliant during happy or safe times and dark or darker to reflect somber, tense, or scary parts of the film. Like music, lighting influences audiences’ responses.
